CHENNAI: “The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) will become a commission without ‘commission’. The smokescreen that surrounds exams held by the commission will be demystified. I will not let any wrongdoings happening within the commission and will reprimand offenders,” vowed retired DGP R Nataraj, minutes after taking over as TNPSC chairman on Monday.Giving a list of reforms that would be implemented to ensure transparency in the commission, the TNPSC chief said all examinations conducted for recruitment to various posts would be videographed to prevent malpractice. “All exam centres would be monitored by webcam, as is the practice at sensitive polling stations during general elections. Interview of the candidates would also be videographed. If candidates find anything suspicious, they can view the answer sheets as well as the videos,” he said.Immediately after an examination is over, the model answers to the questions would be posted on the TNPSC website and candidates can point out mistakes in them. The final version of answers would be posted within seven days after the experts committee went through them, he added.Among other reforms, Nataraj said that candidates who wish to compete for various categories of posts need not file separate applications for each examination. Once they apply for an examination an identification number would be given to them and it would be sufficient if they mention the number and apply for other posts as well, he said.
