BANGALORE: Newly-elected state Youth Congress president Rizwan Arshad took charge here at the KPCC office here on Tuesday.   “Pehchaan (identity) will be the buzzword for every member of the Youth Congress and all will have to get an identity of our own as a dedicated activist in order to get higher positions in the organisation. Latching on to godfathers will not be tolerated,” national Youth Congress president Rajiv Satav said during the occasion. Arshad’s election as the state Youth Congress president marks the culmination of the organisational elections following a membership drive where 5.87 lakh youth were enrolled as members across the stateArshad said that the election of an ordinary minority youth was proof of the Congress party being genuinely secular as this can happen only in the country’s oldest party. KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar said that the Youth Congress workers must supplement the efforts of the mainstream parent party and provide the zeal and dynamism. Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah lambasted the BJP and the JD (S). According to him, while BJP was both corrupt as well as communal, the JD (S) was rank opportunist.
