Naxals blow up CRPF truck in Chhattisgarh, 11 killed
Incident took place on Saturday evening nearly 375 kms from Raipur.

Raipur: Eleven Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed on Saturday and as many injured when the truck in which they were travelling was blown up by Naxals in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.

Director General of Police Vishwa Ranjan said that the incident took place late on Saturday evening at Kokanara village, nearly 375 kilometres from Raipur He said the Naxalites blew up the truck, which was bringing back personnel to Tonagapal from a patrol.

A 53-member joint police-CRPF team had gone on patrol after getting information that the militants had burnt down a truck near Kokanara village where a road is being constructed.

They were coming back from patrol and had boarded two trucks and a jeep when the Naxals ambushed them. They blew up the truck and exchanged fire with the personnel, the DGP said.

After getting information, the SP and other police officials rushed to the site with additional force, he said.

The DGP said the injured personnel have been admitted to Maharani Hospital in Jagdalpur.

A senior police official said security personnel have been asked to avoid using vehicles while on patrol.
