Preliminary investigation in the attack on a JNU student on Wednesday has revealed that the perpetrator Akash was upset with Roshni's 'indifferent behaviour' towards him for the past few weeks because of which he decided to kill her.

After the incident, police had recovered a four-page suicide note from 23-year-old Aakash's bag, in which he hid a knife, an axe, a country-made gun and a bottle of sulphas pills which he had used later to attack Roshni and kill himself.

"…She has hurt my ego…but I don't want to reveal the reasons for which my ego has been hurt...," he said in his suicide note.

According to friends, Aakash had been pursuing Roshni to have a relationship with him for a very long time. Fed up with his constant requests, Roshni had started ignoring him. Instead of giving up, he wrote a letter to Roshini's father, proposing marriage, they said. However, Roshni's father had allegedly refused and asked him to stay away from her. On way to the hospital, Aakash had told his friends to hide his mobile phone which had important messages exchanged between him and Roshini.

Sources said that Akash was also disturbed as his father was detected with cancer. His arguments with Roshni only made his condition worse.

Not able to deal with personal issues, he decided to carry a pistol, an axe, a knife and a bottle containing poison to class on Wednesday. Following an argument with Roshni, he attacked her with the axe, inflicting serious injuries including on the head and then he took his own life by consuming poison and slitting his throat.

It was not until the heinuos incident came to light that the JNU security guards realized that Akash had carried arms inside the campus, right under their nose. Wednesday's attack has now raised several questions on the security which the JNU administration will have to answer as the police investigation continues.
