Jhabua: Jhabua police have arrested a Muslim medical practitioner on charges of hurting religious sentiments of a particular community by posting a picture of a sadhu buying meat in Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh.
The BMHS professional Atik Afzal Khan (30), was arrested by Kotwali police in Jhabua and produced in court on Monday which remanded him to judicial custody.
Khan had shared a picture on his FB wall in which a sadhu was buying meat from a mutton shop, Inquiry Officer KS Pandav told News18, adding that the doctor also tagged a comment "Rahim ki Dukan Se Ram Hari Sabjiya Kharidte Huye, Ek Durpabh Tasvir (Ram buying green vegetables from Rahim’s shop, a rare photograph.)
The Kotwali police had received a complaint from Anil Prajapati over the said FB post.
Subsequently, the police charged Khan under section 505 (2) of IPC and produced him at a local court after the arrest on Monday.
The court has remanded Khan to judicial custody, the Inquiry Officer said.
