MANDYA: Union Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa blamed the state government for the delay in the track doubling of the Bangalore-Mysore rail line. Despite repeated requests, the state has not provide about 80 acres of land required to complete the project, he added. He was addressing the Media on the sidelines of a private function held here on Tuesday. The minister said that about 80 acres of land was needed for the railways for the track doubling between Ramanagaram and Mysore. “Delays in handing over the required land is hampering implementation of the project. The state government must convince the Archaeological Survey of India and other departments to hand over land near Srirangapatna,” Muniyappa detailed. He added that should these hurdles be cleared, the Railways will complete the track doubling between Ramnagaram and Mandya by 2012-end and Mandya to Mysore by the end of 2013, the minister said.Replying to a query, Muniyappa promised to withdraw the cases filed against farmers for blocking railway lines over the Cauvery dispute and other issues. “I will discuss the matter with the authorities and convince them to withdraw the cases,” he said.
