New Delhi: Senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde was on Saturday seriously injured in an accident near Parli in Marathwada region, about 600 km from Mumbai.
The accident took place at around at around 1700 hrs (IST) near a Reliance petrol pump, between Parli and Tokewadi village, a local BJP leader told PTI.
Munde has been admitted to the local hospital in Parli. Party sources say he would soon be shifted to Aurangabad or Latur and then to be flown to Mumbai for emergency treatment.
"We have been informed that Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, a close friend of Munde, has requisitioned state government aircraft for flying Munde from Latur. The other option is to take him to Aurangabad from where he will be flown to Mumbai, by a private airlines flight if need be, to Mumbai", PTI quoted a BJP leader as saying.
The accident occurred when a boy suddenly came in the way of the vehicle in which Munde was travelling. Sources say the boy has also been injured.
