New Delhi: While LG has been incessantly teasing its Android Wear smartwatch since it was announced back in March, Motorola, on the other hand, has been tightlipped on its Moto 360 smartwatch since they unveiled it on the same day as LG. Now finally, there is a little more to know about the upcoming Android Wear smartwatch from Motorola.
On the sidelines of the Moto E launch event in India, Punit Soni, VP, Product management, Motorola Mobility, in an interview with IBNLive, shed some more light on the Moto 360 launch plans in India. While Soni didn't have an exact timeline to share, he said that the Moto 360 smartwatch will be soon launched in India.
On being asked, "can we expect the Moto 360 in India in the next two months,?" he neither replied in affirmative nor did he deny. He instead smiled and reiterated, "it is going to come relatively soon," which is an indication that the watch could hit the Indian shores in the next two months.
On the pricing of the Moto 360 in India, Soni said, "The price will be in line with the Nexus strategy where you basically have good value devices with high functionality." He further said, like our other devices, it will also be competitively priced in India.
We expect the Moto 360 to also be a Flipkart exclusive as Soni during the interview revealed that all its devices in future also will be available in India via Flipkart. Motorola has neither mulled over any other distribution model for the Indian market nor the company has any plans to change this model, asserted Soni.
Motorola's Moto 360 smartwatch will be available only in select countries, including India.
