GULBARGA: Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and former chief minister Kumaraswamy should go to the court of people to get fresh mandate, opined opposition leader in the Legislative Council Motamma, on Sunday. She described the duo talking of taking oath in front of Lord Manjunathaswami in Dharmasthala temple as child’s play. Motamma told reporters that it is wrong to drag Gods into the sins of politicians. If Yeddyurappa and Kumaraswamy are confident that they are not guilty, let them go to the court of people and get a fresh mandate on the issue, she said.Pointing out that late chief ministers Devaraj Urs and Bangarappa too faced allegations of corruption duing their tenure as CMs. But they never dragged Manjunathaswami into the controversy, she said. She appreciated Kumaraswamy for digging up the scams of the BJP government. She said that the Congress has never criticised Kumaraswamy for making allegations against Yeddyurappa. We demanded the government to probe Kumaraswamy’s charges, she said.‘Do not let girls work in bars’Motamma criticised the government’s decision allowing girls to work in bars and that too till mid-night. We hear several incidents of sexual harassment at work places today. If women are allowed to work in bars, they will certainly face harassment, she said. She said that the government if it has already issued orders in this connection, it should withdraw it. Otherwise the Congress will launch an agitation even in front of bars, she warned.‘Arrest Amarnath Patil Immediately’Motamma demanded the police to arrest HKADB president Amarnath Patil, who is facing atrocity charges, immediately.“It is wrong to manhandle or abuse anybody naming the caste. Why the police have not yet traced Amarnath Patil, who is absconding now, even ten days after registering the atrocity case?” she asked.Motamma said that she has spoken to Gulbarga SP on the issue and he has assured that he would take all measures to arrest Amarnath Patil at the earliest.Motamma said she would speak to Director General of Police over the issue in a day or two.She visited Srimant Pattedar’s house, who was allegedly manhandled by Amarnath Patil ten days ago and enquired about his health.Srimant was discharged from the hospital on Saturday.
