KOCHI: The District Development Committee will request the state government to allot funds for the development of Kochi.The committee passed the resolution which was presented by Benny Behanan MLA. Through his resolution former minister S Sarma sought to revoke the decision to hand over 50 acres of land in Puthuvype possessed by Fisheries University.To resolve the issue of waterlogging, the committee suggested handing over the work of cleaning of canals to the Navigation Department.The other suggestions:The work of the road to Angamaly KSRTC stand should begin immediately.A report should be submitted to the government regarding the vacancies in the health sector, at the earliest.The vacancy to the post of police surgeon should be filled.The police should take immediate action against illegal sand mining."Illegal sandmining is rampant in areas near Kalady police station. So far, the police have not taken any step in this regard," Jose Thettayil MLA said.He has also sought action against the commercial organisations that are running without licence.Dominic Presentation MLA in his presentation demanded a tough action against money chain fraud and atrocities against women.Anwar Sadath MLA, T U Kuruvila MLA, District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth, Additional District Magistrate A Gopakumar were among the others who participated at the District Development Committee meeting.
