PATHANAMTHITTA: The High-Power Committee on Sabarimala Infrastructure Development in association with the Travancore Devaswom Board will convene a crucial meeting in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday to finalise the projects,  including the schemes to be taken up during the forthcoming Sabarimala pilgrimage season and long-term projects.  Talking to Express,  Additional Chief Secretary and chairman of the High-Power Committee K Jayakumar said that the meeting would take a final decision on the projects which needed to be implemented during the next season. Jayakumar said that Devaswom Minister V S Sivakumar and TDB president M Rajagopalan Nair would be among those who would participate at the meeting.

Nadapandal expansion: Jayakumar said the work on the expansion and widening of Nadapandal at Sannidhanam would be taken up immediately after the next Makaraviakku season.

The expansion-cum-renovation of the Nadapandal, aimed at providing resting place for 20,000 pilgrims at a time on the ground floor and queue path connecting the Lower Thirumuttom,  would be implemented by leading engineering company Larsen and Toubro and financed by Hyderabad-based GMR Group.

Technical experts from Larsen and Toubro would visit Sabarimala in the first week of July for preliminary work, including soil testing, Jayakumar said.
