Meerut: Two cops suspended for allowing undertrial to spend time in his lawyer's chamber
Two policemen have been suspended for allegedly allowing an undertrial to spend an unauthorised one-and-a-half hours in his lawyer's chamber, police said on Monday.

Two policemen have been suspended for allegedly allowing an undertrial to spend an unauthorised one-and-a-half hours in his lawyer's chamber, police said on Monday.

Ijlal, an accused in a triple murder case, had been on Tuesday taken for a purported appearance at the local court here by the two policemen. But it has now come to light that the accused was allowed to spend time alone with his wife at a lawyer's chamber in the court complex with the permission of the two policemen who stood guard outside the door.

IG Bhavesh Kumar said today that based on preliminary findings, Prem Singh and Ranveer have been suspended for their role in the matter. Kumar added that they were probing the incident and action would be taken against anybody else who was found complicit in the case.

Ijlal is one of the accused in a triple murder case dating back to May 22, 2008, in which three youths were murdered here. The complaint about Tuesday's incident was reportedly made by one of the witnesses in the case.
