Meerut: A poor man and his two-year-old girl allegedly died after they were denied admission by two hospitals in Meerut. The family members of the dead man Mangeram allege that Meerut district hospital and Meerut Medical College Hospital refused to admit him and his daughter Sweety as they were poor.
When Meerut district hospital chief medical superintendent Doctor AS Rathore was asked about the deaths, he replied that he had no information about the two-year-old girl and claimed that Mangeram was suffering from gangrene and he had referred him to Meerut Medical College Hospital. The girl's mother alleged that the district hospital and Meerut Medical College Hospital were equally responsible for the deaths of her child and husband.
On Wednesday Mangeram's brother took him to the medical college hospital but he was allegedly not admitted due to a strike in the hospital. Sweety was also unwell and when she started to vomit and her condition deteriorated then her mother brought the child to the medical college, but was denied any treatment due to the strike. The family members claim that they were asked to take Sweety to the district hospital but by the time they reached there, the girl had already died.
At the district hospital Mangeram reportedly kept on crying and pleading for medical help with his dead child by his side, but his relatives claim that no one paid any attention. Mangeram ultimately died due to lack of treatment, his relatives claim.
The medical college authorities refused to comment when When IBN7 tried to speak to them.
