Meera Udayakumar, wife of Koodankulam anti-nuclear agitation leader S P Udayakumar, on Tuesday evening called on Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan and thanked him for his support for their cause. She also appraised him of the future course of the agitation. The protestors were planning a blockade at the Secretariat in Chennai on October 29.
‘’The agitation in Koodankulam is continuing,’’ she told Achuthanandan. ‘’Thirty-four small parties are supporting our struggle,’’ she said. In September, defying party diktats, Achuthanandan had planned a visit to Koodankulam to express his solidarity with the protestors but was discouraged by the Tamil Nadu police at the state border.After meeting Achuthanandan, Meera told reporters that he had promised to take up the issue in the party central committee.
