RAYAGADA: Eight children have died in the last 10 days and as many as 30 are suffering from measles in the remote and inaccessible Silapas and Rayalghat villages under Jogipaitunga panchayat of Kashipur block.While one child died on Friday, another death was reported on Sunday.Kashipur PHC in-charge Rajendra Kumar Mandal said four children have died of measles while another four died of other complications in the last eight days.For the first three days, Mandal visited the two villages and treated the patients. A medical team headed by a paediatrician was rushed to Kashipur to contain the situation on Thursday.While Deputy Director of Health K K Rout visited the villages on Friday and Saturday, BDO Bhagaban Behera and CDMO K V Sashi Bhusan Choudary toured the affected areas on Saturday. A temporary medical camp has been set up at Jogipaitunga to provide aid to the patients.
