Mayur Vihar Murder Case Cracked, Accused Woman Claims Exploitation

Three days after the brutal murder of retired government official in Mayur Vihar, Delhi police have claimed to have cracked the case with the arrest of a 25-year-old woman from Palam area who has alleged that the deceased Vijay Kumar was sexually exploiting her.

During interrogation, the accused told the police that she had known Vijay Kumar for two years and Kumar was sexually exploiting her on the pretext of getting her a job.

The woman, a graduate who lived at a guest house in Mukherji Nagar was preparing for competitive exams and has claimed that two companions of Vijaykumar also exploited her.

The woman further claimed that Kumar had filmed her naked and was blackmailing her with the video and that she committed the murder out of vengeance with a kitchen knife at his third floor flat in Samachar apartments, Mayur Vihar.

The accused said she had met Kumar first in October 2014 post which they met at least seven times before July 20, the day or the crime.

After the murder, the residents of Samachar apartments which mostly comprise of journalists, were shown a captured image of the suspect as well as the CCTV footage recovered from the exit gate of the apartment complex, a police source said.

The suspect was clearly captured while exiting the apartment complex from the gate number three with a television which was stolen from victim, Vijaykumar's flat, police added.

The incident came to light when Kumar didn't respond to the calls of his daughter who lives in the same society. Kumar's son too is a journalist in Dubai.

After reaching the flat, the daughter had discovered Kumar's body lying in a pool of blood, in a semi-nude condition under a mattress in the bedroom of the flat, with multiple stab wounds on his body.

The police had on Wednesday said that the assailants were known to Kumar as the entry seemed friendly, adding that robbery wasn't the intention.

The police also found tea cups in the bedroom and no signs of ransacking.
