New Delhi: Controversial Pakistani-American businessman Mansoor Ijaz, who is at the centre of the memo scandal, on Thursday got a one-year multiple entry visa to visit Pakistan to appear before a judicial commission.
Pakistan's High Commissioner to the UK Wajid Shamsul Hasan said on Thursday evening that Ijaz contacted the mission from the airport, saying that he wanted to come to the High Commission.
Ijaz is set to appear before a judicial commission probing the scandal on January 24 and then before the Parliamentary Commission on National Security on January 26. He has been asked to explain his allegation that he was asked to carry a memo on behalf of Islamabad, seeking the help of the US to avert a coup in the aftermath of Osama's killing.
If Ijaz's allegations are proved true, both President Zardari and former envoy Husain Haqqani may be charged with treason.
