Man attacks JD of Industries department, held

HYDERABAD: A joint director of the department of Industries was attacked by a person on Friday at the Commissioner of Industries office at Abids.The joint director, AV Patel earlier used to work in Rangareddy district and was recently transferred to Warangal.On Friday, Patel came to the Commissioner of Industries office to meet the commissioner where he came across a person, Jay Kumar who used to frequently visit the office on some work. Police said Patel and Jay Kumar were having strained relationship. Patel and Kumar had an argument again after which Patel went to meet the commissioner.“After sometime, Patel came out of the office and got into his car to leave the place when Jay Kumar came and knocked on the windows of the vehicle.As Patel came out of the car, Jay Kumar caught the latter by his collar and allegedly attacked him,” Abids police SI K Ranga Subbaiah said.Though there was one more associate of Jay Kumar with him, police said the person was not involved in the attack.Following a complaint by Patel, police registered cases under Sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) against Jay Kumar and he was arrested. Though there were reports that Jay was an associate of a senior state minister, police denied the same.
