Man arrested for raping niece

JAJPUR: A 26-year-old man was sent to jail on charges of raping his niece after a local court rejected his bail plea on Wednesday. The accused has been identified as Lala Das of Champapur Kelasahi under Barachana police limits in the district.As per the FIR filed by the father of the victim on Tuesday, Lala took the 13-year-old to show the flood at Chhatia area on Monday afternoon and allegedly raped her twice.  The Barachana Police arrested the accused from his village on Tuesday night. “Medical tests of both the accused and the victim have been conducted. The accused has confessed to his crime,” said Barachana police station IIC Prasanta Kumar Majhi.
