West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has arrived in Mumbai to attend the grand wedding of Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Reliance Industries Limited Chairman and MD Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika Merchant, daughter of industrialist Viren Merchant, at the Jio World Convention Centre today.
All India Trinamool Congress spokesperson Riju Dutta posted pictures of Mukesh Ambani welcoming Mamata Banerjee in Mumbai.
Banerjee said on Thursday before leaving Kolkata that she will be going to Mumbai to attend Mukesh Ambani’s son’s wedding.
The CM also said she has “fixed an appointment” with Uddhav Thackeray on Friday, and will discuss politics. She also said she would also meet Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar in the evening.
The West Bengal chief minister is expected to return to Kolkata on July 13.
Other politicians who have been invited to the wedding include Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad, Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin and former President Ram Nath Kovind.
Guests spotted arriving in Mumbai include international stars like Adele, Lana Del Rey, Drake, and David Beckham, John Cena, alongside business leaders such as Saudi Aramco CEO Amin H. Nasser and Samsung CEO Han Jong, and politicians Boris Johnson and Tony Blair. Reality TV stars Kim and Khloe Kardashian made a splash with their arrival on Thursday night.
Anant and Radhika’s pre-wedding celebrations began in Jamnagar in March, where they hosted several guests for three days. Apart from Diljit Dosanjh and Arijit Singh, pop icon Rihanna performed at the event. As July arrived, the festivities continued with traditional pre-wedding rituals.
Anant Ambani’s grandmother, Kokilaben Ambani, hosted a lively dandiya night in Mumbai, bringing family and friends together. An extravagant sangeet night was held at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, where pop sensation Justin Bieber performed for the couple, adding a touch of international glamour to the event. The night also featured performances by Bollywood celebrities such as Salman Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh, alongside heartfelt performances by members of the Ambani family.
