KOCHI: With tiny tots set to rush to schools in a day or two it looks like the District Administration is leaving no stone unturned in providing facilities for students. To begin with, they have organised a one-day workshop for all the headmasters and headmistresses, that will wind up on May 30. “The workshop is intended to throw light on serious issues especially on how to utilise available resources efficiently for the welfare of students,” said Anila George, Deputy Director of Education.Every possible step has been taken to provide noon meal for the needy students. An application form will be collected from the parents of such students. This scheme is intended to help students from pre-primary classes to Standard VIII. The fund for the project has been allocated by the Central Government. The aid will be made available by joining hands with Maveli Stores,” she said. She also said that the posting of the required number of teachers will be done on a war footing. As sanitation is a serious issue that cannot be ignored at any cost the District Administration has launched a programme, ‘Total Sanitation’ at the district level, to provide schools that lack proper sanitation facilities with better ones. Facilities envisaged by Sarva Siksha Abhiyan are also in the list,” she said. At this juncture, we could not ignore schools in the coastal areas. Steps have been taken to carry out the project that has been envisaged by S Sarma, Former Minister and MLA, Vypeen. ‘Sustainable Comprehensive Hygiene Initiative—Suchi at School’ is another venture that deserves special mention. It is for the first time in the country that e-toilets are being launched to ensure hygienic atmosphere in schools.
