Former RSS chief K S Sudarshan gave some anxious moments to his family and police on Friday when he went “missing” for more than six hours here. Sudarshan, who was in Mysore on a personal visit, left his brother Ramesh Kuppahallis’ house alone at 5.30 am for a morning walk.
As he did not return home by 8 am, his family and RSS workers launched a search for him. Citing reasons like forgetfulness, Ramesh alerted the police and also lodged a missing complaint. Sudharshan (81) had apparently lost his way and was traced by the police to a house around noon, said Mysore Police Commissioner K L Sudhir.
The owner of the house, Ashok told reporters that Sudarshan came to them asking for drinking water owing to fatigue.
“On seeing Sudarshan, my mother asked me to invite him in and give him water. He was in my house for nearly an hour and all the while I didn’t know he was the former RSS chief,” he said.
Ashok said he identified Sudarshan after watching TV channels broadcasting the “man missing” news. “I informed the police and three officers came to my house and took him in their vehicle,” Ashok said.
When asked why Sudarshan’s security personnel had not accompanied him on the morning walk, Ramesh said the fomer RSS chief did not want to be surrounded by guards like in the past and wanted to feel relaxed in Mysore.
Sudarshan hails from Kuppahalli village of K R Pet taluk of Mandya district and is presently residing in Bhopal. He served as RSS pracharak for six decades.
