TIRUVANANAMALAI: A case of land grabbing was filed against former DMK MLA of Arni, Sivananandam and his sons by the special antiland grabbing cell in Tiruvannamalai on Friday.The complainant Thulasirama Bagavathar of Arni who had submitted a petition to SP Chamundeswari, alleged that the former MLA had usurped around 5,800 sq ft of house site by paying one fourth of the value of the land as an advance with the assurance that he would pay the balance in the next three months. This was in 2009. The land was transferred in the name of the MLA's son and when he failed to pay the balance money, efforts to meet him had proved futile.When the complainant tried to cancel the power of attorney conferred on the son's name, the former MLA had prevented this and had the land transferred to the name of his second son.Thulasirama Bagavathar has requested the SP to initiate action against the former MLA besides retrieving the land from him as well as the monetary compensation for the loss incurred in the transaction. The cell has filed the case against Sivanandam.
