THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Chalachitra Academy (KSCA), one of the government institutions with an impeccable track record, has now landed in a fresh controversy with its deputy director being ousted in an unprecedented move.As part of the ‘cleansing’ drive in KSCA, deputy director Sajitha Madathil, was shown the door on February 29, ahead of her contract, to end on August 28, 2012. She is the sixth employee from the KSCA, who has been axed after the UDF Government came to power.Earlier, K G Santhosh had an unceremonious exit from the KSCA on January 17, after serving a brief period as secretary. Then, Dr B Ashok, director-in-charge of Municipalities, has been appointed in his place along with the Managing Director of Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC). Asha, an assistant, Sajeevan, a driver, Shiji, an assistant programme Manager and Manzur, an assistant, are the other employees who were kicked out of the KSCA during the past seven months. In the letter to Sajitha Madathil, signed by KSCA Chairman S Priyadarshan dated March 3, says that; “In exercise of my powers under sub section D and E of section 16 of memorandum and bylaw of KSCA, I am to cancel the contract agreement offered to Sajitha M, Deputy Director with effect from  February 29, 2012. KSCA shall pay her two months pay as per clause (2)of the contract extension offered to her with effect from  December 27, 2011. Secretary KSCA, shall notify this with immediate effect.” “What was the need of this extra ordinary order from the Chairman when I was not served any memo or show-cause notice during my four year stint in KSCA?” asks Sajitha, who joined on August 28, 2008, through a news paper notification after resigning as the deputy secretary with Sangeet Natak Akademi.“This is nothing but part of the restructuring of the KSCA, to make it more cost-effective. A decision was taken by the general council to minimise the expenses and place more efficient persons,” said, M Ranjth, executive member, as the Chairman was not available for comment. Vice-Chairman Gandhimathi Balan said that he was not aware of the developments.
