Kolkata: A day after her party swept Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) polls, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee said Thursday an expert committee will be formed to suggest measures for revamping the city.
Two expert committees would be formed for advising KMC and adjoining Bidhnnagar (Salt Lake) Municipality, which too was wrested from the Left Front by the TMC.
Banerjee said the committees would comprise apolitical persons chosen from a cross section of society and different communities.
"We want to see Kolkata as an international city. It is being deprived the status of an A-1 city," she said.
On party's electoral promise to transform Kolkata into London that invited ridicule from the CPI(M), she said, "What we have said we shall do. Kolkata will become like London and north Bengal will rival Switzerland".
However, it would be easier to work when it would be in the government, she said hinting at her party's growing confidence.
She said the newly-elected councillors of the city civic body would meet here on Sunday to elect a leader following which the Mayoral election will be held after the date for the same is announced by the authorities.
