HYDERABAD: A stonecutter throttled his wife to death on Wednesday and tried to project the murder as a suicide. According to the police, M Renuka (23) was married to Mahesh five years ago. The couple who were staying at Butchireddy Colony in Shamshabad, got a four-year-old daughter Radhika.Mahesh used to quarrel with his wife suspecting her fidelity. After murdering Renuka, Mahesh came out of the house and informed his neighbours that she committed suicide by hanging herself on Tuesday night while he was asleep. The police visited his house and found Renuka’s body hanging from the ceiling fan with a sari. When questioned, Radhika told the police that Mahesh murdered her mother. Mahesh was taken into custody. The body was sent for post-mortem. A case was registered.In another incident, a 45-year-old man was arrested for attempting to kill his wife while she was fast asleep at their house in Rajendranagar. The police said T Yadaiah, a labourer from Kismatpur, married Sabita (40) more than 15 years ago. The couple had two daughters. Yadaiah who reached home in an inebriated condition on Tuesday night, tried to strangulate his wife to death. Their elder daughter Swetha woke up and raised an alarm. When Yadaiah threatened to kill her, Swetha along with her sister fled. Sabita managed to free herself from the clutches of Yadaiah. Later, she lodged a complaint with the police against her husband. A case under Sections 307 and 498 A of IPC was registered.
