DMK on Tuesday warned Centre that if it kept "passing time" while promising to act on Sri Lankan navy's "atrocities" against Indian fishermen, the fishermen will be left in "utter helplessness."
Responding to the Lankan navy's arrest of 35 Indian fishermen from Rameswaram on Monday, Karunanidhi said he had been continuously writing to the Centre on the issue of arrests and attacks.
"Sri Lankan navy's atrocities continue and are unbearable. There should be a solution to this. For that, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and (UPA Chairperson) Sonia Gandhi (led) Centre should take immediate action. If they keep passing time saying action will be taken, the situation of our fishermen will end in utter helplessness," he told reporters in Chennai.
