In fresh trouble for Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Bhaskar Rao, anti-corruption crusaders in Bengaluru have given him a two-day ultimatum to either step down or for the government to order a Central Bureau of Investigation probe against him in an alleged bribery racket.
Campaigners including former Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde have announced a protest rally on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka government has agreed to come out with an amended Lokayukta bill, which is likely to be introduced in Assembly on Monday.
Earlier Rao's son Ashwin was named as an accused in the multi-crore blackmailing and extortion scam.
Ashwin allegedly summoned government officials to the Lokayukta's office to demand money and avoid raids.
The Lokayukta's office has been under a cloud over the past month, with allegations of serious corruption against it.
