BANGALORE: Chief Minister D V Sadanand Gowda’s plans to take up the second expansion of his six-day old Cabinet hit rough weather on Wednesday due to lack of consensus between former CM B S Yeddyurappa and Rural Development Panchayat Raj Minister Jagadish Shettar groups over the caste and region representation in the council of ministers. This apart, the indecision of the party high command on inducting the Bellary Reddy brothers in the Cabinet has also come in the way of Gowda. The party high command, though, said to be not in favour of taking the Reddys into the Cabinet, the latter have continued with their efforts to impress upon the party leadership to get berth for their supporters.Gowda, however, is making all out efforts to complete the process as early as possible so that he could focus on his administration. If everything goes well, the possibility of the expansion being held on Thursday also cannot be ruled out, say sources in the BJP.On the other hand, the Yeddyurappa, former chief minister, and Shettar camps have once again locked horns, but this time over the caste and region representation to be given in the cabinet. Besides, there is a stiff competition within the groups for the Cabinet berth. At present there are 12 vacancies in the Cabinet, of which, the party has almost decided to fill five berths with Varthur Prakash, Balachandra Jarakiholi, Anand Asnotikar, C P Yogeshwar and Raju Gowda.
