Kanpur: Over a dozen students of a government school in this Uttar Pradesh city were injured on Thursday when the roof of a class room caved in, police said. The condition of five of them is stated to be serious.
The accident took place at the Government Junior High School in Collectorganj area in the afternoon when the school was in session.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kanpur Amitabh Yash told IANS that all the students injured in the accident belonged to Class 6.
While seven students were discharged after first aid, the condition of five students continues to be serious, police said.
The building housing the school is in a very dilapidated condition and the roof is in very bad condition, a district official said. The school has since been closed till further orders.
