VN Chidambaram, the proprietor of Kamala Theater and a popular personality of Tamil film industry, passed away in Madurai on November 24 morning.
The 76-year-old is survived by three sons and other family members. His last rites will be performed at his native village Rangiyam in Pudukottai on November 25.
Chidambaram, who shared a close rapport with top guns of Tamil cinema and politics, was close to former Chief Minister MG Ramachandran and legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan.
He also occupied a key post in the administration board of Madurai Meenakshi temple. An actor as well, Chidambaram played a crucial character in last year release 'Thoonga Nagaram'.
