UDUPI: Disgraced former Union minister Suresh Kalmadi, against whom the CBI is conducting an inquiry into the alleged financial irregularities in the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, offered a sacred ‘Chathupavithra Naagamandala Seva’ in his native village Kalmadi, near here on Friday.    Suresh Shyamarao Kalmadi along with his elder brother Sridhar and his family is said to have offered this three-day long ‘Nagamandala Seva’, following the advice from an astrologer, to overcome ‘Naagadosha’.    It may be noted that Kalmadi had spent around 10 months behind bars for financial irregularities.    During the Commonwealth Games, a cobra had been found in the newly-built hostel of foreign athletes. It was believed to be a signal of ‘Naagadosha’.    Following this, Kalmadi visited Udupi a few months ago, met his family members in Kodavoor and is said to have arranged for the ‘Nagamandala’, festivities for which were initiated on April 11 and continued through the night on April 13, on  the premises of Sri Billugudde Pancha Daivasthana, at Kalmadi.    The festivities included ‘Hariru Hore Kanike’, ‘Ashlesha Bali’, ‘Halittu Seve’, and other programmes. He is said to have spent about `10 lakh for the same.Kalmadi is expected to participate in the ‘Nagamandala’ on Friday midnight.
