The kalabhabhishekam ritual was performed at Lord Ayyappa temple here on the second day of Kanni monthly poojas on Tuesday.

The kalabhabhishekam ritual was performed at Lord Ayyappa temple here on the second day of Kanni monthly poojas on Tuesday.

As part of kalabhabhishekam, Thantri Kandararu Rajivaru performed the Kalabhakalasa pooja at the Nalambalam in the presence of Melsanthi G Balamurali.

Kalabhakalasabhishekam, marking the conclusion of the ritual by pouring the sandalwood paste on the idol of Lord Ayyappa, was performed during the uchcha pooja by the thantri after the procession carrying the kalabhakalasam by around the sreekovil.

Sahasrakalasam was the other special ritual performed at the temple in the afternoon. Udayasthamana pooja, padi pooja and pushpabhishekam were the other rituals held at the temple.

The hill shrine of Lord Ayyappa will be closed on September 21 evening after athazha pooja and harivarasanam.

Temple to be Reopened on Oct 16

The temple will be reopened on October 16 evening for the five-day monthly poojas for the Malayalam month of Thulam.
