Former Kerala High Court Judge and the former chairman of the Kerala Agricultural Debt Relief Commission Justice K A Abdul Gafoor, 67, passed away here on Tuesday.
He died at his house at Vazhakkala. He was suffering from neurological disorder. He was under treatment for motor neuron diseases (MND) for the past 10 months, family sources said. The funeral will be held at Padamugal Juma Masjid at 11 am on Wednesday.
Gafoor was appointed as Permanent Judge of the Kerala High Court in January, 1996. On retiring as HC judge, Gafoor was appointed as the commission chairman in 2007 and retired in March 2012. He enrolled as an advocate in April, 1970, and practised at the High Court of Kerala and subordinate courts at Ernakulam in service law, labour laws and civil laws. He worked as Government Pleader at the High Court from June 1979 to January 1983 and also as Standing Counsel for Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation and Greater Cochin Development Authority. He is survived by wife Suhra Beevi, daughter Anju A Gafoor and Amjath A Gafoor, son-in-low Anees Basheer (Engineer, Mathrubhumi) and daughter-in-law Rebiya Muhammed.
