Jobless young techie strangulates woman 'friend' in Bengaluru by laptop cord, arrested

Bengaluru: Bengaluru Police on Thursday arrested a Haryana resident on charges of killing a 31-year-old techie Kusum Kumari at her residence in Bengaluru.

Accused Sukhbir Singh and victim were friends through social media over the last few months. On January 19, the accused is seen visiting her flat on CCTV footage recovered from the apartment. The woman was found dead later.

Police said that a team went to Haryana to arrest him, as he had left Bengaluru soon after the murder.

Sukhbir and Kusum allegedly had an altercation over his demand of money from her, which she refused. She was a divorcee living with a friend with whom she shared the apartment and was working at IBM.

The police said she was strangulated with her laptop cord.

Sukhbir Singh is 25-year-old. He is also a techie, but has been out of a job for the last couple of years. The police added that he attacked her first with a sharp object and there were signs of a struggle in the house. Later, he grabbed the laptop cord and strangulated her.
