Jammu: Terrorists attacked a CRPF bus in Pampore area of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday evening killing two jawans and injuring 11, before hiding inside the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI).
Sources said the terrorists, numbering at least 3 held more 80 people hostage, before they were all evacuated safely by security forces.
The terrorists holed up inside the building were still firing at security forces, a senior police officer said, adding further details were awaited.
About 80 people have been evacuated from various sides of the complex and efforts are on to sanitise the EDI building.
Additional contingent of police and army rushed to the spot to assist the rescue operation.
"We are getting reports that the terrorists are still hiding inside the institute’s premises and engaged in a gun battle with the forces," police sources said.
The terrorists, fleeing from the spot where they attacked the CRPF bus, entered the J&KEDI complex where over 100 students were undergoing training in entrepreneurship when the incident took place.
The terrorists, also reportedly hurled a grenade towards security forces from the building but no one was hurt.
