Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday instructed the Hazaribagh deputy commissioner to find out whether land adjoining BSF's Silwar and Sitagara firing ranges could be transferred to the paramilitary force.
Soren gave this instruction to Hazaribagh deputy commissioner Sunil Kumar after BSF IG PC Sharma pointed out that several villagers had lost their lives after being hit by stray bullets for allegedly violating BSF warning during the firing practices.
The Chief Minister was attending the 'Passing Out Parade'at the BSF Training Centre and School at Meru, about 10 km from here. Praising BSF for protecting the country's borders, Soren said he felt proud that its state-of-the-art training centre was established in Jharkhand.
Addressing 193 sub-inspectors who completed training, BSF Director General Devendra Kumar advised them to discharge their duty sincerely on the borders where they would be deployed, and follow all the lessons learnt during their 48-week training.
