Former union minister and senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh spoke to BJP patriarch LK Advani on Monday and said he will quit the party soon, said sources.
Seeking Advani's blessings over phone, he said he will leave the party soon. The leader is expected to file his nomination in the next 10-15 minutes, said sources.
A sitting Lok Sabha MP from Darjeeling in West Bengal, Jaswant Singh, wanted to contest the elections from Barmer in Rajasthan. He had threatened that if denied BJP ticket from Barmer, he would contest as an independent.
However, BJP refused to give him the ticket. The party has instead decided to field Colonel Sona Ram Chaudhary, an ex-Congress legislator from the region.
