KOZHIKODE: Doctors attending on actor Jagathy Sreekumar, who was injured in a road accident on Saturday, have said that he was under observation for next 36 to 48 hours and put on ventilator.“Jagathy’s was a case of polytrauma as he sustained multiple injuries including intra-abdominal injury, fractures in both forearms and injuries to lungs and chest. He also had fractures in rib and in right femur. He will be under observation for 36 to 48 hours and has been put on ventilator,” said Dr P P Venugopal, Senior Consultant and Head of the Department Emergency Medicine, MIMS.“As he suffered injuries in forearms, rib and femur, an orthopaedic surgery will be conducted later,” he said.Venugopal-led team of doctors comprising orthopaedic surgeon Dr Radhesh Nambiar, general surgeon Dr P Rajan, anaesthesiologist Dr Kishore Kanianchalil and ICU specialist Dr Ranjit Unnikrishnan subjected him to an emergency surgery at 9.30 am. Jagathy’s wife Shoba and son-in-law Shaun George reached the hospital on hearing about the incident. Actors Madhu, Captain Raju, Jagadeesh, Harishree Asokan, director Siddique and producer P V Gangadharan visited the hospital.Hundreds of his fans also thronged the hospital hearing the news of the accident. Jagathy was on his way from Thrissur to Coorg in Karnataka, the location of director Lenin Rajendran’s latest film ‘Edavapathi’.
