Iyer blasts liquor policy

KOCHI: Coming down heavily on the State Government for its liquor policy, Justice V R Krishna Iyer has said that the government should cancel the already issued liquor licences. “The Cabinet has to either cancel the licences or make its policy openly in favour of alcoholism,” Iyer  said in a statement.  He pointed out that the Constitution has made it clear that ‘the state shall endeavour to bring about prohibition of the consumption except for medicinal purposes of intoxicating drinks and of drugs which are injurious to health.’
