KOZHIKODE: The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has demanded that the state government implement a Kuttanad model Centrally-sponsored package for the comprehensive development of coastal regions of the state. The state council meeting of the IUML convened here on Sunday passed a resolution in this regard.“Though various poverty eradication programmes are being implemented in the state, people of the coastal regions are yet to get the benefit of such schemes. There should be urgent intervention of the state government to solve the backwardness of the coastal regions in education and health sectors,” the resolution said.Basheer Defends Ahamed on Railway DevelopmentIndian Union Muslim League (IUML) state general secretary E T Mohammed Basheer has said that Congress leader and minister Aryadan Mohammed’s statement on the apathy of Railways towards the state should be taken with a pinch of salt.“It’s true that the Centre has been ignoring the state on railway development.
