New Delhi: The owner of the Bangalore Royal Challengers Vijay Mallya seems to be losing friends from his own camp.

Indian test skipper Anil Kumble spoke in favour of old friend and Royal Challengers captain Rahul Dravid.

It seems that the king of good of times has unleashed a storm of negativity that has swept him into isolation.

"You need the people around you, the people who matter, to understand what sport is all about, to realise that no one goes out there to lose,” says Anil.

He adds, “What's unfortunate is that, invariably, everyone starts pointing fingers at the captain. So it stands all the more to reason that people within the camp then stand up and say 'we believe in you and your team'. I do understand that the IPL is different and there is a corporate look and feel to the whole concept. But at the end of the day, it is a match and that a cricketer does not want to lose.”

Kumble's words will definitely not be very pleasant for Vijay Mallya. CNN-IBN has learnt that he has been advised to keep a low profile and not speak publicly on these issues anymore.

Mallya had earlier said, “After the auction, I did question both Rahul and Charu about the composition of the team, however I left it entirely on them. I relied on them because I was told that players with a good record in Test cricket could do well in TwentyTwenty also.”

However, the Royal Challengers would be now hoping that they get through their last five matches without any further controversy.

What's your reaction?
