Melbourne: India pulled off a sensational upset in table tennis over higher ranked Singapore in the men's team final to snatch their first ever gold in the discipline.
Making a strong comeback after dropping the first two matches, the Indian players Subhajit Saha, Achantha Sharath Kamal and Soumyadeep Roy finished with a 3-2 scoreline in a thrilling final.
Another table tennis bronze came from the women's team who pipped Canada 3-2 in the third-place play-off.
In women's wightlifting, Monica Laishram Devi raised the prospects of a golden finish before eventually settling for the silver in the 69-kg event.
The boxing ring saw Jeetender Kumar, Akhil Kumar and the experienced Diwakar Prasad keep themselves in line for medals by making it to the quarterfinal in the 51 kg, 54 kg and 57 kg categories respectively.
