New Delhi: India on Monday signed a pact with China to enhance mutual technical cooperation between the the two Asian countries in the field of railways, an official statement said.
Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU), both the countries will enhance mutual cooperation across various areas of rail technology including high speed rail, heavy haulage and station development, said a statement from the railway ministry.
The two sides will undertake exchange of information on policies, training and exchange programmes, site visits, joint symposiums, it said.
Both the countries have also agreed that future cooperation on railways between them will be carried under the Infrastructure Working Group constituted under the India-China Strategic Economic Dialogue.
Railway Board chairman Vinay Mittal signed the MoU with Wang Zhiguo, China's vice minister of railways. The MoU will remain in force for 5 years.
