Wells are an important part of living in many villages. Once, water was drawn from the wells of Peddapalli district, Ramagundam, and people used to drink the good water. Over time, these spring wells have almost disappeared as the towns have developed and the municipality or corporation has provided good water. But in this town, the well is always full of water. The people there are also protecting that well. So let’s see what the history behind that well is.
Oota Bavi at the O Chai Hotel in B Power House Chowrastha in Peddapalli District Ramagundam has a history. About 50 years ago, 30 villages around Ramagundam were using the well for drinking and other purposes. This spring it provided water to 30 villages in those days and still quenches the thirst of motorists.
50 years ago, people from nearby villages used to come here and take the water from the spring well for drinking purposes. Sometimes the well was filled with mud. People used to struggle to fetch water. In that order, a man named Hanumayya took up the construction of the well with his own money and made arrangements to bring water to the people without any trouble. Then there was a big Ravi tree here. That is why the people of that time used to call this peepal tree Ravi Chettu Uta Bavi.
Oota Bavi, which once quenched the thirst of a few villages, is no longer used by anyone. Meanwhile, Afzal, the manager of Chai Hotel, cleans and maintains this well for them from time to time.
In some villages, spring wells dry up completely when summer comes. But the Ravi tree well is always full of water. It is remarkable that this water still tastes the same as it did 50 years ago. People say that the special feature of this well is that the water in it is tastier than filtered water. That’s why the people of the place say that travellers or drivers like to drink water from here.
