BANGALORE: The officials of the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC) raided the Peenya police station and released seven persons, including a woman who were allegedly detained under illegal detention.
A few days back, KSHRC officials received a complaint that the Peenya police had illegally detained seven persons without producing them before the magistrate. Based on that, Dy S P Ashwath Narayan raided the police station. The officials found that Siddaraju and his relative Chandrakala, both residents of Bagalagunte, were brought to the station in connection with a theft case and had been illegally detained in the station for seven days.

The officials also noticed that the other five, Ravi, Suresh, Jabiulla, Syed and Arif, had also been similarly illegally detained in connection with a cartheft case. All the seven were let free after the officials directed the police personnel to release them.
