BANGALORE:  More than 1.7 lakh consumers viewed the Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Department's website and verified their LPG connection numbers with the RR numbers on the website. The department 's offices too were flooded with calls and enquiries on the status of their connections.
Speaking to Express B A Harish Gowda, principal secretary, Food and Civil Supplies Department said that this shows public is technologically savvy. When asked about complaints, he said that on Day 1 there were no complaints, but technical complaints about the website were listed. The website provides solutions in English and Kannada. Majority of the grievances were related to the site hanging or it took a lot of time to process the requests to change information.

"There is no need for anybody to panic. If the connection is disconnected it is only pending verification, which will be done within a month's time. Only those who have illegaly procured connections will be grilled," he said and added that the National Infomatics Centre will be increasing the server capacity to prevent the site from hanging or from the session being timed out.

Foolproof method

"If the RR number and LPG connection details are not matching, then users can correct it online. The confirmation of the change in details will be done within 24 hours and distributors too will resume their refilling. The technical department is working on informing the agents directly and this system will be released in a week," said Gowda.
