Panaji: Raveena Tandon, who had hosted the opening ceremony of 45th edition of International Film Festival of India which opened on November 20 at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, shared with us the reason to be in Goa.
"I'm really excited to be here at IFFI. It has always proved to be a great opportunity for films to get huge recognition. And yes, I'm here at IFFI because I have immense love and respect for the festival. IFFI isn't a commercial award show, it is done sincerely."
"I'm happy that Rajinikanthji is being given the Centenary Award at the opening ceremony of IFFI. He is the heartthrob of India, and truly deserves it," she added.
The opening ceremony also included dance tribute to Indian cinema's iconic actors and dancers such as Vyjayanthimala, Hema Malini, Waheeda Rehman and Kamal Haasan, by Shobhana Pillai and her crew. But it was the speech by Amitabh Bachchan which explained the impact of Indian films that wowed everyone. But nothing could be pitted against Rajinikanth's presence and a short and crisp speech to thank his producers, technicians and directors for being honoured with the Centenary Award for Indian Film Personality of the Year.
