Cheltenham: The tragic demise of King of Pop Michael Jackson has caused a flurry of controversy. The latest being, Jackson's good friend and his children's godfather Mark Lester expressed his perplexity over the events leading up to his death and denied that Michael was under the influence of prescribed drugs.

Lester said the circumstances surrounding the singer's death "don't add up" because he never saw his friend take drugs.

"I spoke to Michael about ten days ago and he was bright, bubbly, really excited about coming to London. I'm godfather to his children, he is the godfather of my kids and whenever Michael comes to the UK, and we have been to the States, I have been to Neverland, my kids have been to Neverland, we havespent Christmas with Michael, we've done a lot of things over the last few years. And for him, there was no indication of him being unwell, or even tired. I've never seen Michael take anything, and as far as I knew he was very anti-drug," he said.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles police department has carried out investigations in his rented house in Hombly Hills and found prescriptions for drugs like the sedative Xanax and the narcotic pain reliever Vicodin prescribed under different names, giving rise to speculation that the King of Pop had set up an illegal supply chain to cater to his dependency on such medication

"Myself and an investigator with the coroner's office along with investigators, detectives from Los Angeles PD responded on Tuesday to recover some additional items as a result of our investigation and those items have been taken into custody as evidence and we'll be returning to our office to analyse some of this stuff, some medications that we did locate," said Los Angeles County Assistant Chief, Ed Winter.

Jackson's former lawyer John Branca revealed on Monday night that he has the King of Pop's will drafted in 2002 in his possession which clearly cuts out his 80-year-old father Joe Jackson from the inheritance of his multi-million pound estate and divides it instead between his mother Katherine Jackson, his three children Michael Joseph Jackson Jr, known as Prince Michael, 12, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II and several charities.

Katherine, 79, was given temporary custody of his three children by a Los Angeles judge on Monday. They will be with their grandmother till August 3 after which Katherine will file papers to become their permanent guardian.
