HYDERABAD: People of the twin cities ignored the bandh call given by the YSR Congress on Monday to protest against the arrest of its leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.Apprehension of some trouble from YSRC activists notwithstanding, life went on as usual without any disturbance. All schools, colleges and other educational institutions in all parts of the city functioned normally as did commercial establishments, businesses, banks and corporate offices. RTC city services also ran as per schedule since morning though some buses bound for coastal areas were withdrawn.Osmania University campus was also peaceful. The varsity, the hub of Telangana agitations, showed no signs of protest against Jagan’s arrest. “How can we even think of supporting an anti-Telanagana person who was seen holding united Andhra placards in the Parliament?” said M Krishank, spokesperson of OUJAC, on the lack of response to the YSRC bandh call on the campus.“I am tired of all these bandhs being called again and again,” reacted Saleem, a shopkeeper near the university. There was no effect of the bandh call in the Hitec City are in Madhapur. “We never close on a working day, no matter what,” said Manish, an executive from Citibank. “It is time we realised that bandhs should not be called for thieves and politicians like Jagan. I hope he remains in jail forever,” said an angry Vibha who felt that the arrested leader did not deserve so much attention.“All the buses ran as per schedule since morning in Hyderabad. Except in the Kadapa region, there was no reduction in the frequency of buses anywhere else in the state,” said an official of the APSRTC.
